As I might have mentioned, I happen to love Free Bird. I'm also quite a big fan of most of the other stuff that Lynyrd Skynyrd have done, and of their lead lead guitarist, Allen Collins. I'm also a big fan of 80's rock 'n' roll (AC/DC, Jackyl, Styx, Kix etc) and therefore, a big fan of The Darkness.
Previously, I'd never have admitted to liking The Darkness in public (after all, prospective employers might read this), but recently I've been struck by a conclusion. Justin Hawkins is Allen Collins. Think about it, Allen 'died' in 1990 and we certainly didn't hear much from Justin before then, they both love silly guitar solos and jumping about on stage in a rather amusing fashion.

haha That would be awesome if allen was still alive, he is my facorite guitarist. but there's no way justin hawkins is allen collins. this is because in 1986 allen got in a car crash witch killed his girlfriend and paralized him from the waist down and made it so he had very little use of his arms and hands. poor allen, probably on of the most under appreciated guitarist ever.
yeah i agree with the first guy. Allen was so under appreciated. him and gary have inspired me so much when it comes to playing guitar. im also a big fan of Hendrix and Wyld and Brian May and angus&malcom younge and alot more. i would have to say that gary and allen are my biggest though.
anyways...yeah that would be pretty sweet if he was still alive. and even if he is...its not justin lol.
pretty cool though and pretty neat how alike they are i mean even in looks and stuff. hey i wonder if allen was one of justins insperations...i dont know just a thought.
I am so glad to hear that Allen inspired you guys... he was my first big inspiration as a guitarist and remains very influential in my sound.
He was definitely under appreciated.
I'm also a very big fan of Allen Collins, but i just think it's impossible.
There's only one Allen and even through all the similarities, Justin Hawkins isn't it.

this justin guy is ugly. collins was actually a good looking guy. all you guys who have been inspired by allen as a guitarist should understand it was the man behind the guitar that made him such a great guitarist. collins lived a gloriously tragic life. a life with the highest of ups and the lowest of downs. a rockstar in its truest form. he was a soldier.
